TODAY'S CARD

STRENGTH

VIII

strength is the card of gentle power, and it lands in the middle of the week, on a wednesday when the energy dips and the inner commentary tends to get louder.

most of us have a voice we use only on ourselves. it would never speak to a friend that way. so careless. of course you forgot. it runs in the background so often that you stop hearing it as a voice at all.

the habit is so everyday that it is easy to miss what it costs. small remarks, repeated hundreds of times, become the story you believe about yourself. this card asks you to notice who wrote that story, and whether they had all the facts.

the strength here is the quiet kind. it is not about forcing yourself to feel confident. it is about treating yourself the way you would treat anyone you loved who was having a hard week. you are allowed to be gentle with yourself, and to do it on purpose.

what is worth leaning into today: catching the voice once today and answering it the way you would answer a friend who said that about herself.

what is worth staying away from: comparing your inside to everyone else's outside. the women you measure yourself against have voices like this too.

my advice for today: write down the harshest thing you said to yourself this week. then rewrite it in the words you would use for someone you love, and read the second version out loud.

what is the phrase your inner voice uses most. tell me, if you can bear to write it down.

Doctors Warn: Think Twice Before Drinking Bottled Water

You drink water every day to keep your body healthy.

But what if your plastic water bottle is exposing your brain to something harmful?

Scientists at the University of New Mexico made a disturbing discovery.

Even more concerning?

Researchers found higher concentrations of these particles in brain samples from people with dementia.

While scientists haven't proven that plastic causes memory loss, the findings raise serious questions.

And here's something most people don't realize:

That means some everyday habits could be increasing your exposure without you knowing it.

/ a story

the woman who was always the hardest marker

this comes up often. a woman who is warm and generous with everyone around her, who remembers her friends' worries and forgives their mistakes in a heartbeat. and in her own head, a running commentary that would make anyone else wince.

the queen of swords. the sharp eye. this card carries clear judgement, the kind that sees exactly what went wrong. for her it means the critic in her head is perceptive. it has simply been pointed in one direction for a very long time.

the seven of cups. the illusions. this card is about things that look more solid than they are. for her it means the women she compares herself to are partly made of her own imagination. she is seeing the best angle of their lives and the worst angle of hers.

the three of cups. the friends. this card carries the people who know you. for her it means the most useful correction often comes from outside her head. when she asks a friend what they actually see in her, the answer is almost never the one her critic expected.

if this sounds like you, it may help to keep the sharp eye and turn it around once in a while. ask it to find what went right with the same precision it uses for what went wrong.

if your oldest friend described you in three words, what do you think she would say. i would love to know.
