FRIDAY, 30 OCTOBER

TODAY'S CARD

THE DEVIL

XV

the devil has a reputation for temptation, and it turns up on a friday, when the impulses get louder and the week's good intentions get quieter.

for a lot of women the trouble was never wanting too much. it was learning early that wanting was a little shameful. too much, too loud, too selfish. so the wants got folded away somewhere and labelled impractical.

this card is about what binds us, and very often what binds is not the desire itself but the voice that says you should not have it. that voice tends to be older than you are. it belonged to someone else first.

friday impulses are not always to be trusted, and some of what you want today will look different on monday. some of it will not. the wants that keep coming back, year after year, deserve a fair hearing.

what is worth leaning into today: remembering something you wanted before anyone told you it was unreasonable. a place you meant to see, or a colour for the front door.

what is worth staying away from: talking yourself out of a small want in the same breath as you notice it. let it sit there for a minute before you judge it.

my advice for today: write down one thing you want, without a reason attached, and leave it on the counter until sunday. if you still want it then, take one small step toward it.

what is one want you have been calling impractical for years. i would love to hear it, unreasonable or not.

And help you feel like yourself again — starting today.

Over 47,000 people have already made this simple change.

Just like Helen K. from Denver: "I thought memory loss was just aging. Turns out I was wrong — and so was my doctor."

If you want to boost your memory and feel sharp again, you need to see this now:

/ affirmations

read these out loud, five times, in front of a mirror, right now

/ i am allowed to want things without explaining them

/ my wants are telling me something worth hearing

/ i remember who i was before i got careful

/ the woman who wanted things is still here

/ i can say yes to something small, just for me

/ wanting more does not make me ungrateful

/ i get to decide what is reasonable for my own life

which of these was hardest to say out loud. that one is usually the one worth saying again tomorrow.
