TODAY'S CARD
NINE OF PENTACLES
IX
the nine of pentacles is the card of having actually arrived somewhere, and it turns up most often for women who did arrive and never got the memo.
there is a number, or a house, or a quiet run of months with nothing going wrong, and the feeling that was supposed to come with it did not arrive. so the target moves. a bit more put away, and then you will be able to breathe properly.
what is worth knowing on a monday is that the feeling of being safe and the fact of being safe are two separate systems, and they are not wired to each other. one of them responds to numbers. the other responds to what you lived through before the numbers existed, and it updates very slowly.
that is not a reason to stop being careful. it is a reason to stop reading the feeling as a report on your situation. today it is a report on your history, and those are worth very different amounts of your attention.
what is worth leaning into today: looking at the actual position once, properly. not the feeling about it, the position.
what is worth staying away from: measuring your inside against somebody else's outside. you are seeing their kitchen, never their standing orders.
my advice for today: say the number that would count as enough, out loud, today. if it turns out you passed it a while ago, that is worth a minute of your morning before the week takes over.

have you ever set a figure that would count as enough, and what happened when you got near it. i would like to know if it moved.

/ a reflection
the rule you were handed before you could read it
here is something i keep turning over. most of us were given a rule about money before we were old enough to test it, and then spent forty years obeying it without ever reading it back.
the rule almost never arrived in words. it came from watching. somebody's face when the post landed on the mat. a conversation that stopped when you came into the room. nobody sat you down and explained anything. you learned what the temperature in the house was, and you built an entire adult policy out of it.
and the policy works, mostly. careful people end up with something in the end. but careful and frightened look identical from the outside while costing completely different amounts to run, and only one of them ever lets you buy something on a tuesday without a small argument going on in your head.
i am not going to tell you which one yours is, because you are the only person with the evidence. i would only ask what the rule actually says, in a sentence, and whether you would hand it to somebody you love as advice.
if you can get that rule into one sentence, send it to me. i have a feeling a lot of them turn out to be the same sentence.
