TODAY'S CARD

KNIGHT OF WANDS

the knight of wands is the card of wanting something and wanting it now, and it turns up on a sunday evening, when the week ahead is close enough to feel and a want can suddenly seem urgent.

this card carries a lot of heat. the sudden plan to book the trip, quit the committee, repaint the whole house. there is real energy in it, and energy at this stage of life is worth respecting.

the question it raises is whether the urgency belongs to the want or to the sunday. some wants have been building for years and are finally ready to move. others are a way of escaping a week you are dreading.

both deserve attention, and they need different things. the first needs a plan. the second needs a closer look at what the week is asking of you.

what is worth leaning into today: writing the want down tonight and looking at it again on wednesday. the real ones are still there.

what is worth staying away from: making a big decision you cannot undo at nine o'clock on a sunday. that hour exaggerates everything.

my advice for today: give the want one concrete step this week, small enough that you could take it even if the urgency fades. that is how you find out which kind it was.

what is the want that feels urgent tonight. tell me, and tell me whether it is new or old.

I Almost Threw This Away

I know how it sounds:

  • A secret recording.

  • An accountant who broke an oath.

  • Results without meditation or effort.

I would have closed the tab too.

Then I pressed play.

And within 30 seconds, something happened in my chest that I couldn’t explain.

This isn’t a guided meditation.
Nobody tells you to "breathe deeply" or "open your chakras."

 You press play.
You close your eyes.

And something happens in your chest within 30 seconds.

Goosebumps.
A wave of calm.
A physical response that has nothing to do with belief.

The man who shared this says the biggest skeptics in his circle had the strongest reactions.

I was one of them.

P.S. The man who shared this is a retired accountant from Ohio.

No course. No coaching program.

It's a single audio track.

You press play and close your eyes. That's the whole thing.

option one. the change you want to make all at once

the whole life, rearranged by next month, in a picture so vivid you can almost walk into it.

big changes usually go better in pieces. the all-at-once version tends to rely on a burst of energy that does not last, and when it fades it can feel like failure. pick the single piece that matters most and start there. if the want is real, the rest will still be waiting, and you will have one piece done instead of a whole plan abandoned.

option two. the thing you want and keep calling silly

you say it with a little laugh, so nobody takes it too seriously. learning the piano, perhaps, or a week alone by the sea.

calling it silly is a way of protecting it. if nobody takes it seriously, nobody can say no. but a want you have mentioned more than once is not silly, it is information about what you are missing. try saying it once, to one person, without the laugh, and see how it sounds.

option three. the want you put on hold for somebody else

it was reasonable at the time. someone needed you, or needed you to stay put, so the want went into a drawer.

it is worth checking whether that reason still applies. circumstances change, and drawers do not open on their own. if the reason has gone, the want is yours again. if it is still there, there may be a smaller version you can have now without taking anything from anyone. either way it helps to say out loud that you put it there, and that you remember.
