FRIDAY, 16 OCTOBER

TODAY'S CARD

THE SUN

XIX

the sun is the card of warmth and plain good feeling, and it arrives on a friday in october, as the days shorten and a lot of us start noticing the body more than we would like.

there is a way of talking about the body in this decade that is mostly a list of complaints. the knees, the sleep, the reading glasses that are suddenly in every room. it is understandable, and it is only half the story.

the same body still warms up in the sun, still enjoys a good meal, still carries you up the stairs and across town. it has done an enormous amount, and most days it is quietly getting on with it.

this card asks for a little of that other half today. some notice of what still works, what still feels good, and what you might enjoy doing with it this weekend.

what is worth leaning into today: one thing your body enjoys, done on purpose. a walk in what is left of the light, or a long bath.

what is worth staying away from: the friday impulse to fix everything at once, the whole new regime starting monday that tends to collapse by thursday.

my advice for today: notice a few moments today when your body feels good, however small. it sounds slight, and it changes the conversation you have with yourself.

what is one thing your body still does that you are grateful for. tell me, i would love to hear it.

What If You Were One Piece Away?

If you've been doing the visualizations... the affirmations... the gratitude journals…

...and wondering why it's not clicking yet...

You were closer than you think.

The visualizations work.

The affirmations work.

The gratitude journals work.

They just can't finish the job on their own.

Because they all rely on one thing: you.

Your effort.

Your focus.

Your willpower.

What if the final piece doesn't require any of that?

A small-town accountant recently broke a 20-year oath of secrecy... to share something he recorded inside a ceremony most people don't even know exists.

He's not a guru.

He's not a coach.

He's an accountant from Ohio who found the piece that makes everything else work.

The people who respond strongest to this are the ones who've already done the inner work.

Because everything they've built is still there.

It just finally has the missing piece underneath it.

Within the first 30 seconds, you'll feel it in your body.

Not because you're visualizing.

Not because you're trying.

Because this does the part you were never supposed to do yourself.

See the missing piece

P.S. He didn't invent this.

He recorded it from a ceremony that's been performed in secret for over 300 years.

The people who guard it are not happy he's sharing it.

/ a story

the woman who stopped moving because it hurt a little

this one comes up often. a woman who used to be active, walking for miles and dancing at every wedding, who slowly stopped, because one thing ached and then another, and resting seemed sensible.

when it gets read, it tends to move through three positions.

the nine of swords. the worry in the small hours. what it carries is the fear that any ache is the start of something worse. for her it means a good part of the stopping came from worry rather than from the body itself, and worry is something that can be checked.

the page of pentacles. the student. what it carries is the willingness to learn something from the beginning. for her it means asking a doctor or a physio what kind of movement suits her now, instead of guessing from what used to work.

the queen of wands. warmth and ease in her own skin. what it carries is a woman comfortable in the body she actually has. for her it means finding the version of movement she enjoys, gentler perhaps, and going back to it without needing it to look the way it did at forty.

put together they say something hopeful and fairly practical. a body that has been resting for a while is often waiting for permission more than repair. a bit of good advice and a gentle start will usually do more than another year of being careful.

what kind of movement did you used to love. i would like to know what it was.
