FRIDAY 7 AUGUST

TODAY'S CARD

PAGE OF CUPS

friday in august, and the week is nearly spent. there is a particular restlessness that arrives on a friday afternoon in late summer, when the light starts going amber earlier than it did in june and you can feel the season quietly packing up behind you.

the page of cups is the card of a small want that keeps arriving. not a plan. not a decision. a flicker. something you noticed months ago and filed under impractical, and it has kept turning up anyway, in the odd quiet minute, at the sink, in the car.

what the page carries is this: a want that keeps returning is not a whim. a whim leaves. this one has been persistent, and persistence is information.

friday will try to turn that into a purchase or a declaration by nine tonight. it does not need to become anything today. it only needs to be admitted.

what is worth leaning into today: naming the thing you keep almost mentioning. out loud if you can, on paper if you cannot.

what is worth staying away from: the justification. the version where you have to prove it is sensible, affordable and useful before you are allowed to want it.

my advice for today: you do not have to know what it is for. the page of cups never asks what the feeling is for. it just asks you to stop pretending you did not notice.

come back tonight and tell me what showed up when you stopped arguing with it. i want to know whether the page found something small or something you have been circling for a while.

/ affirmations

read these 7 affirmations out loud 5 times right now

ideally in front of a mirror, looking at yourself.

/ i am allowed to want something without a reason.

/ what i long for does not have to be useful to be valid.

/ a desire is not a promise i have to keep.

/ i can hold a want quietly without acting on it today.

/ wanting more does not mean i am ungrateful for what i have.

/ the part of me that still reaches is not foolish, it is alive.

/ i do not need permission, and i am giving it to myself anyway.

if one of those was harder to say than the others, that is the one. reply and tell me which line caught, i am always curious where the resistance sits. and if there is a theme you want next time, send it my way.
