FRIDAY, AUGUST 14

TODAY'S CARD

SEVEN OF PENTACLES

VII

today's energy is about something you are waiting on that has not told you anything yet. friday makes that harder than it needs to be, because friday is the day impatience gets creative and starts calling itself action.

seven of pentacles sits in the middle of a wait, at the point where you have done your part and cannot yet see whether it worked. that is a genuinely uncomfortable place to stand and nobody praises anyone for standing there well.

the distinction worth having today is between being still and being stalled, because they feel identical from the inside and they are not the same at all. stillness is when the next move belongs to someone else and there is nothing to do but keep your own days going. stalling is when the next move is yours and you have found a reason to postpone it. the test is simple. is there something in your hands right now, or is there not.

if the answer is that there is nothing, then the silence you are reading into is not information yet. it may turn out well or it may not, and you will not learn which by checking again this evening. what you can do is stop paying it rent while you wait.

what is worth leaning into today: asking the plain question of whether the next move is yours. once you know the answer, the day gets considerably easier either way.

what is worth staying away from: the friday impulse to force a result before the weekend. a chasing message sent at five on a friday has never once improved an outcome, and it costs you the whole of saturday.

my advice for today: give the waiting a shape. decide the day you will follow up and write it down somewhere you will see it. a wait with a date on it stops running in the background.

if you worked out which one yours is, still or stalled, write back and tell me. the ones who answer stalled usually already knew before they read a word of this.

/ affirmations

say these out loud five times, in front of a mirror, right now, before the day gets hold of you

/ i can be uncertain and still be steady

/ i do not need the answer today to be alright today

/ what i am waiting on does not decide what i am worth

/ i have done my part, and my part is enough to have done

/ i can put my day down when i am not carrying it well

/ i have lived through not knowing before and i was fine

/ my life is happening now, not after the news arrives

tell me which of the seven was the hard one to say to your own face. that is usually the one doing the work, and i would rather hear about that than the easy ones.
